   Malena stands for the way Italy was manipulated by Mussolini in transforming the country into a fascist paradise. Also Malena, like Italy, is turned into a prostitute in the eyes of many Italians, who watched their beloved country invaded by the Germans, who were supposed to be their allies.

   1. why would i want to follow up a movie where she gets raped figuratively with one where she does get raped literally..
   
   2. don't you think i am battling with enough neg thoughts about "male" kind to be recommended a movie which has really disturbing scenes..

   hmm@soo: if the entire movie can be summed up as monica getting raped, then i dont see the point of watching any film at all. its also about how depraved man can get, and how situations can change a person's outlook towards life and his consequent reactions. plus the styling, structure and flow of the film is quite mindflowing. though yes, the rape scene is quite disturbing, plus the head.. i actually flinched, and i dont really flinch. :D watch.

   havent u watched 'Mathrubhoomi' (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0379375/) ?
   
   "irreversible" - I bought that one after i read a review on it that read "one of the best 20 films of all time".
   Not to mention, it ruined the entire weekend after I watched it! Thats one movie I swore never to watch again in my movies collection!
